Halpa-Halli has been developing the security of its stores together with Loihde over the long term. The collaboration started with information security solutions, but today it covers a broad range of security technology services. Loihde is responsible for the burglar alarm, fire alarm, access control and video surveillance systems, as well as their maintenance and lifecycle management, in 35 stores. In addition, Loihde has provided locking solutions for Halpa-Halli.
Kokkolan Halpa-Halli Oy is a Finnish family-owned company that employs around 1,200 people in 35 stores and an online store. For more than ten years, Loihde has been responsible for Halpa-Halli’s store access control, burglar alarm and video surveillance systems, locking solutions, as well as the related telecommunications connections, main user services and technical support.
The latest major project was the new store building completed in Laihia in spring 2026, where the security technology implementation is a good example of how well the collaboration works in practice. The project progressed according to plan, stayed on schedule and communication about the progress of the work was active throughout.
“Overall, the project went well. Loihde is familiar with our concept, so the technical needs were already well known, such as the number of cameras required. We reviewed the overall system together, and based on that the plans were refined and the project moved into the implementation phase. Everything progressed smoothly and stayed on schedule. We also received regular updates on the progress of the project, for which we owe big thanks to the installation team,” says Lauri Tunkkari, Property Manager at Halpa-Halli Oy, describing the project.
The collaboration has been ongoing for a long time. Why Loihde? Tunkkari says he is satisfied with the service level received from Loihde.
“The fact that the company is Finnish carries weight in the decision. Of course, cost-effectiveness is also essential. The retail sector is highly competitive, and costs must be carefully considered. Lifecycle thinking is also important, meaning that costs must be efficient and support the business in the long term as well.”
From investments to continuous services
Most of Halpa-Halli’s security technology equipment has been acquired as one-time investments, but for the new store built in Laihia in spring 2026, Halpa-Halli chose a continuous service model. Loihde’s One Surveillance service consists of burglar alarm, fire alarm and video surveillance systems. In the service model, the equipment is not purchased as an investment; instead, Loihde is responsible for keeping the equipment up to date, maintained and updated for a fixed monthly fee.
“At the same time, we introduced a new video surveillance system that can later be expanded to our other stores as needed.”
Next, the plan is to carry out basic renovations of video surveillance and burglar alarm systems in other stores where the systems were acquired as investments. Loihde also maintains and repairs the equipment in these stores. The maintenance agreement ensures annual maintenance, and the response time commitment provides an agreed reaction time. Loihde’s service center acts as an important hub for both quick changes and scheduled maintenance work.
“Compared with one-time investments, the continuous service model brings predictability to costs and makes lifecycle management easier. Our One Surveillance service, in turn, brings key security technology services together into one package,” confirms Paavo Aho, Key Account Manager at Loihde.
Everyday security is highlighted in retail
According to Tunkkari, in the retail operating environment, the security of stores is emphasized from the perspective of both customers and employees. Up-to-date and functional solutions are essential in security technology.
“For us, information security issues related to security technology, among other things, and the quality of the equipment are important matters. Of course, security means much more to us than just technology. With it, we ensure smooth everyday operations in our stores and a safe environment for both our customers and our personnel,” Tunkkari sums up.
Loihde’s ability to operate locally has also been an important factor in the choice. Smooth collaboration is a major practical advantage in everyday operations.
“Our contact person can be reached quickly and moves things forward promptly. Things have always been resolved. When you operate 35 stores around Finland, security solutions must be reliable, cost-effective and easy to manage across the entire network.”
Customer centricity is one of the cornerstones of Loihde’s culture. Paavo Aho from Loihde aptly describes how trust and collaboration are built continuously.
“Loihde is big, but humble. We strive for genuine partnership with the customer. Trust is built through how we serve our customers. The service level must remain consistently high.”
